Our project advances the civic engagement of Eagle Rock students with a collaborative initiative focused on representation and advocacy. By allowing girls and women in 2024 to actively contribute their voices, stories, and experiences to a larger conversation, our project will symbolize the struggles and successes surrounding gender equality and societal roles. The physical documentation of our perspectives is a form of representation that counters the historical underrepresentation of female voices. By creating a time capsule, we will ensure that our stories as women are preserved and shared, paving the way to a more inclusive record of history. Our project also promotes advocacy by raising awareness to both the present and future members of our community. Participants will directly advocate for equality, justice, and empowerment while simultaneously encouraging the girls of the future to pursue our mission. Our team will reach out to community members to pinpoint a public location for our time capsule to be buried. This landmark will expand our project beyond the walls of our school and serve as a statement throughout our wider community. Ultimately, our project will advance civic engagement by prompting students and community members to think critically about their roles in society and sparking conversations about gender equality and representation.
